檢驗醫學是當今全球發展最快速的領域之一，透過醫事檢驗師於實驗室根據微生物做詳細之檢測，其檢測結果將有利於達到疾病診斷的目的。醫療技術人員的主要工作包括分析血液樣本、體液、組織和其他臨床樣本，藉由執行分析進行一系列複雜的定量的測試，將生物篩查的目標瞄準分子分析。我們將測試結果應用於醫療或研究的領域上，對於改善個人或群體的護理或健康的維護上具有相當大的助益。因此，公共衛生機構、醫院、醫生辦公室和研究實驗室對合格的醫療技術人員的需求不斷增加。美國勞工部進行的一項研究發現，該領域的增長速度遠高於全國平均水平，這主要是由於患者人數增加以及新測試的開發和可用性不斷增加。此專業領域在職場上非常的樂觀，也是目前被公認為台灣就業前景最好的工作之一。

Clinical Laboratory Medicine is one of the fastest-growing fields in the world today. Medical technologists perform comprehensive clinical laboratory tests to achieve the goals of clinical detection of microbes and diagnosis of diseases. The main works of medical technologists include analyzing blood samples, body fluids, tissues, and other clinical samples, performing a range of complicated and quantitative tests, to target the aims of biological screening to molecular analyses. As a result, there is an increasing demand for qualified medical technologists for public health agencies, hospitals, physician’s offices, and research laboratories. A study conducted by the USA Department of Labor finds that this field is growing much faster than the national average, primarily due to the increased patients’ population and the increasing development and availability of new tests. The prospection of this occupation also looks promising in Taiwan.
