Nurse practitioners (NPs) system has been developed in Taiwan for nearly 30 years. In the past, thetraining of nurse practitioners was only focused on professional knowledge to meet the needs of clin-ical care. In recent years, the importance of nurse practitioners has increased, and they have begun to play leaders’ role in the hospital. However, requirements for nurse practitioners vary among hospitals. In addition to clinical care, nurse practitioners also have administrative management responsibilities. Heavy workload of the NPs such as handling manpower shortage, scheduling, retention, training, assessment and so on, result in low willingness to be a team leader. Therefore, to enhance the admin-istrative leadership competencies of NPs, the Taiwan Association of Nurse Practitioners purposed a series of leadership courses. NPs in Taiwan not only are expected to lead the nursing professional de-velopment in their own hospitals but also to have profound impacts on the society. Furthermore, NPs in Taiwan will be able to increase worldwide visibility.
