With the popularization of the internet, social media platforms have become important channels for information dissemination and social movement mobilization. Memes, as an information dissemination tool with viral spread characteristics, can rapidly spread and stimulate mass participation when applied to social movements. This study aims to explore the function of memes as a tool for social movement communication, the cognition and attitudes of movement participants, and the impact of memes on social movements. Through semi-structured interview analysis, it understands how memes serve as a tool for information transmission and public opinion mobilization, and explains their impact on participants' behavior and attitudes. The results show that memes, as a form of thought that can be rapidly imitated and spread, play an important role in the dissemination and mobilization of social movements, especially among young people. They possess strong appeal, and their humor and satire effectively stimulate social dialogue, enhance the transmission of movement demands, help participants understand the content of the movement more deeply, and prompt them to take action. Like a virus, they spread and stimulate political participation, enhancing the influence of civic movements. Memes possess high marketing potential and functionality in modern social movements. |
