Sustainable development has become a major issue in higher education, and higher education is a crucial link in this process, aiming to ensure that everyone involved in higher education has a sense of responsibility and takes action. In 2015, the United Nations proposed a five-dimensional Sustainable Development Goal encompassing ''Humanity,'' ''Prosperity,'' ''Planet,'' ''Peace,'' and ''Partnership.'' Graduation projects in higher education can enable students to truly implement sustainable concepts, learn about sustainable development through brand design, and apply this knowledge to future development. This study aims to explore the integration of sustainable development concepts with design thinking teaching strategies in higher education graduation projects, examining the relationship between sustainable development and brand design concepts in graduation project instruction. The research methodology utilizes a project-based learning approach in university graduation projects to guide students, employing design thinking theory to creatively develop solutions, and applying these solutions to the brand design production process within the context of sustainable development issues, thereby promoting sustainable development. This study found that the combined approach of thematic teaching and design thinking enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of sustainability issues. They grasped the implications of bee extinction for the balance and survival of the entire natural ecosystem. Beyond understanding the interconnectedness of these issues, students applied brand design techniques to create a brand called ''Qifengle'' (起蜂了, meaning ''The Bees Are Rising''). They also designed a board game gift box named ''Carbon Risk Prevention for Bees'' (炭险先蜂, meaning ''Carbon Risk Prevention for Bees''). With bee ecological initiatives as the central theme, and incorporating knowledge of carbon footprints, they developed a board game that educates the public in an engaging and educational way, teaching them how to implement environmental protection measures and reduce their carbon footprint in daily life. |
