This study explores the relationship between the subconscious and the structure of the Hero’s Journey from a psychological perspective, with an analytical focus on the world-renowned literary work The Little Prince. Employing a practice-based research methodology, the study integrates literature review, narrative structure, and visual-textual analysis as a foundation for picture book creation. Through the lens of semiotics, particularly the concepts of signifier and signified, this research examines the transformation from text to imagery, investigating the picture book’s content, visual composition, narrative structure, text-image layout, color schemes, brushwork, and contour lines. From a visual semiotics standpoint, the study delves into the symbolic meanings embedded in the visual elements of The Little Prince. By applying semiotic theories, the research analyzes the interplay between text and image and the underlying significance of this transformation. The findings indicate that the visual imagery—such as stars, roses, snakes, and hats—carries profound symbolic meaning. These images not only enrich the emotional depth of the narrative but also enhance its psychological and philosophical dimensions, encompassing themes of life experiences, emotional fluctuations, and the exploration of human nature and the world. The results aim to serve as a reference for future researchers and a foundation for creative practice. |
