The‘Forensic Science and Crime Prevention’general education course aims to cultivate students’comprehensive understanding and appreciation of forensic science and crime prevention, as well as their proficiency in integrating relevant technologies. The course integrates“forensic science”and“crime prevention”into the university’s general education curriculum using real-world case studies, hands-on forensic exercises, and cross-disciplinary integration to help students understand how to leverage technology as a critical tool in criminal investigations. At the core of the course is the concept of knowing right from wrong and standing on the right side, which familiarizes students with common crime patterns and methods to avoid becoming victims, while also instilling in them the spirit of upholding justice, courageously seeking justice, and assisting others. Through a variety of teaching activities, including lectures, group discussions, research projects, and visits to professional agencies, students learn the fundamental principles and techniques of forensic science, such as how to use technology to secure crime scenes and collect evidence, and develop independent thinking, teamwork, and crisis response capabilities. The course particularly emphasizes the integrated application of technology in the fields of forensic science and crime prevention, enabling students to recognize how technology has become a powerful tool, not only to improve the efficiency and accuracy of criminal investigations, but also to significantly enhance personal and societal security capabilities. In the future, these technology integration skills will not only benefit students in their daily lives by helping them protect themselves, but will also contribute to their career development as responsible and courageous citizens in society. Furthermore, through this general education course, students can expand their cross-disciplinary learning horizons, cultivate critical thinking skills to“let the evidence speak,”and comprehensively enhance their awareness of social issues and interest in forensic investigations, laying a solid foundation for their future career development. |
