Emotional display rules are defined as standards for regulating and controlling emotional expression based on sociocultural norms, categorized into positive display rules that encourage the expression of positive emotions and negative display rules that restrict the expression of negative emotions. In healthcare settings, these rules and emotional expressions vary according to specialty units. However, prolonged adherence to strict emotional regulations may lead to emotional exhaustion, burnout, and increased turnover intention among healthcare professionals. In today's environment of staffing shortages, management priorities often focus on inadequate compensation or resources, while neglecting emotional and team-level management needs. How to help clinical healthcare professionals effectively manage g has become a critical issue in healthcare administration. Therefore, this study aims to outline the theoretical foundations and operational mechanisms of emotional display rules in healthcare environments, examine their impact on healthcare professionals' mental health, and propose practice-oriented management strategies to create healthier and more supportive work environments for healthcare organizations. |
