This study centers on the concept of“Life Story,”employing the narrative inquiry approach within qualitative research to depict the rich life experience of an older woman. She not only earned two master’s degrees but also obtained multiple instructor certifications and has long served as a lecturer in community and senior learning centers. Her story demonstrates a strong passion for learning and active participation, showcasing the value of her life experiences and tracing her pursuit of an active aging lifestyle. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using verbatim transcripts. The findings reveal that (1) growing through adversity demonstrates resilience and self-actualization; (2) aging opens diverse possibilities through learning; (3) continuous learning brings meaning to life and fosters optimism; (4) senior participation creates a vibrant and fulfilling life; (5) psychological resilience and the construction of self-worth are key; and (6) lifelong learning and social engagement promote active aging. In the life review of an elderly woman, not only do her numerous life stories and achievements emerge, but also the significant effects of major life events on her physical and mental development, as well as her overall quality of life, are revealed. This offers valuable insights for future research on social participation and active aging among older adults. It helps middle-aged and older individuals in proactively planning for retirement and personal fulfillment, aligning with the concepts of“active aging”and“successful aging. |
