With the aging of the population and changes in family structure, the need for nursing home care continues to increase. Enhancing the independence of activities of daily living (ADL) among nursing home residents has therefore become an important issue. From January to April 2020, the average ADL improvement rate among residents in this unit was 1.87%, which fell below the target threshold of 2.79%. To address this gap, a project team was established to improve residents’ADL performance through multidisciplinary collaboration, focusing on personnel, systems, and tools. After identifying and analyzing the root causes of the problem, the project team implemented a series of improvement strategies, including revising the ADL functional training program; planning and procuring appropriate ADL training equipment; developing operational guidelines and short instructional videos for ADL training; creating standardized training record forms; organizing ADL promotional activities for residents; and establishing a monitoring plan. Following these improvements, the residents’ADL improvement rate increased from 1.87% to 3.80%. The implementation of these countermeasures enhanced staff compliance with training procedures, increased residents’willingness to participate in ADL activities, and ultimately led to improved ADL outcomes. |
