Innovative biotechnological discoveries in medicine are significantly contributing to the advancement of human health and the overall quality of life. Increasingly, these developments aim to overcome certain natural biological limitations through the enhancement of human capabilities. This is being enabled by the integration of converging technologies and artificial intelligence within the emerging field of cyber-medicine. However, such progressive aspirations raise substantial bioethical and legal concerns high-lighting the unpredictability of long-term consequences, as well as the potentially uncontrollable side effects that may arise from altering the fundamental nature of human life in a post-humanist context. Transhumanism, which promotes the radical transformation of human existence, introduce a host of complex anthropological, philosophical, bioethical and legal questions. Central to these concerns are issues related to biological identity, human dignity and the preservation of essential anthropological constants. In this context, it becomes imperative to establish clear algorethical frameworks that can guide the responsible development and deployment of AI-driven technologies, thereby safeguarding core human values. |
