The promotion of native languages teaching faces several challenges: inadequate teacher training, concerns over supporting teachers’ professionalism, high teacher turnover, course arrangement difficulties, students’ lack of interest, and minimal parental support. This article introduces the “Bilingual Digital Learning Program” initiated by the National Taichung University of Education. It aims to address the aforementioned issues from a new perspective. Using two lesson designs as examples, the characteristics of this program are explained as follows: 1.Bilingual teaching and learning. 2.Addressing the issues of insufficient class hours and lack of speaking practice. 3.Incorporating digital learning resources and using technology for learner interaction. 4.Using themes as teaching materials, integrating language and content knowledge into a bilingual teaching model.5.Teaching staff are not limited to university students from partner universities, but also experts in the field. By focusing on teacher training and curriculum design, we hope to foster a win-win model for native language teaching and learning. |
