Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, which began in late 2019, spread rapidly in 2020. In response to the global threat of the pandemic, Taiwan took proactive measures to curb its impact. Since 2020, central quarantine facilities have been established throughout Taiwan. As the pressure from the escalating pandemic rose, the Madou Government Quarantine Facility was quickly established at the end of 2020 and was managed by Jianan Psychiatric Center, the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Leveraging professional division and coordination theories from management science, and collaborating with other comprehensive hospitals, logistics management companies, and local health authorities, they demonstrated high professional capabilities and a rigorous approach in areas such as fire safety, security monitoring, infection control, and food safety. This overcame the limitations of psychiatric specialty hospitals in infectious disease and quarantine management. By embodying the core values of ''safety, care, respect, and innovation,'' the quarantine residents felt cared for and attended to during their isolation period, fostering trust and positive relationships, and helping them face various challenges during isolation more proactively. This paper reveals the power of cross-professional collaboration in successfully operating the Madou Government Quarantine Facility, aiming to provide beneficial references for future pandemic strategies in related fields. |
