Objectives. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of intravenous laser irradiation of blood (ILIB) therapy on human blood cells and biochemical values. Methods. This trial included 39 patients who underwent ILIB therapy at the Taoyuan General Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2017 and 2018. We measured blood cells (WBC, Hb, platelets) and several biochemical values (total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL, LDL, fasting blood glucose, HbA1c, venous gas analysis, ESR, immunoglobulin E) before and after treatment to determine which ones might be significantly different. Results. Three months after the ILIB therapy had been completed, the mean value of hemoglobin increased by 0.328±0.970g/dL(p=0.041), the mean value of platelet decreased by 25.256±70.110x103/uL(p=0.030), the mean value of ESR decreased by 8.62±20.91mm/hr (p=0.014) , the mean value of HDL increased by 3.41±6.27mg/dL p=0.002), and the mean value of fasting blood glucose decreased by 5.05±14.22mg/dL (p=0.033). The other differences not mentioned were not significant. Conclusion. This observational study suggests that ILIB therapy can produce some blood and biochemical changes in the human body without complications, and that may be used as an adjuvant treatment for some diseases in the future. |
