This paper summarizes the history with its institutional factors of the psychodrama group development in the Psychiatric Department of the Taipei Veterans General Hospital during early 1980s. It also discusses how the medical professionals and members of the psychiatric team had experienced different levels of inner struggles, challenges of professional roles, and teamwork under the training of Professor Agnes C. C. Wu. Led by Wu, the team was able to provide various patient activities to achieve more humanistic treatments with focused attention. Based on this perspective coupled with a social change framework, the writer, serving as a member and the director in that training, had continuously worked in the Clubhouse for some decades and collaborated with members and staff ever since in pursuing the goals of the team. |
