The population of Fengshan District in Kaohsiung City has risen sharply since 2019 to 357,000, it becomes the most populous administrative district in Kaohsiung City. Due to medical resources limitation, a district hospital in Kaohsiung is undergoing transforming and upgrading to become a regional hospital in 2026. However, due to the limited hinterland, parking spaces shortage and the location in a hub with heavy traffic pose a major concern for the safety of people seeking medical care and employees commuting. This project conducted an analysis of the current situation of traffic environment in medical institutions firstly, an integrated assessment was made on the stream of people, vehicles and traffic flow, and listed the current“traffic”problems clearly. Then, through Cause & Effect Analysis to analyze the four aspects, the environment, equipment, management, and people, to set up ''smooth traffic, safety, resources, supply and demand'' four goals, and listed corresponding improvement measures. Then, considering the cost, benefit, feasibility, and improvement progress, we combined the resources of the public sector to carry out a number of improvements continuously. This project has been implemented for nearly a year and following results of medical safety has been improved, such as medical satisfaction, traffic congestion decreased, traffic disputes, and the cases of patient falls. The comparison photos of before-and-after about the process of implementation are provided to peer hospitals for reference. |
