The purpose of this study is to investigate the work-related stress on the staff of the regional hospital, and to discover if psychodrama can be effective in reducing the work-related stress. Through action research, researcher invited and conditionally screened employees (aged 20 to 65) from a reginal hospital in central Taiwan to participate in the group. The number of the group members is limited from 8 to 12. There are two groups, each group has six sessions, we provided the “Work Stress Scale” as a pre/post-test of the research and a semi-structured questionnaire as a feedback to obtain qualitative information. The results of the research show that the psychodrama method can help staff to improve their control of the work, reduce the feeling of the workload and fatigue. Through the interview, we learned that members also benefit from increasing empathy, catharsis, stress reducing from work, family, and interpersonal relationships, and also help self-awareness. Therefore, we can tell that psychodrama can be an effective method to improve the work-related stress on staff of the regional hospital in this research.
Researchers also find that psychodrama group can be a good way of the employee assistance programs (EAPs) for companies. As stated above, the results of this study, in addition to providing regional hospitals as a reference for workplace safety programs, can further serve as one of the recommendations and reference programs for companies to provide employee assistance programs. |
