Satir’s technique of family sculpture, learned from Moreno, can be applied in couple, family, individual and group therapy. It is also an optimal technique for group supervision. The supervisee and group supervision members can benefit from the process of family sculpturing for the following reasons:
.It helps group supervisees to practice the exploration and understanding of a client’s family dynamics.
.It helps group supervisees to understand how a family system creates or maintains a client’s difficult coping behavior.
.It increases supervisees’ empathy to a client and his/her family members, and this facilitates the counseling relationship.
.It enhances supervisees’ insight into a counseling relationship and the awareness how personal issues influence the relationship and counseling process.
.We can sculpture the ecosystems which influence both the client and the supervisee and mediate the systems’ conflicts and resources. |
