This study was aimed to understand the transformation process of a protagonist's predicaments experience in psychodrama. The study recruited voluntary members to participate in a psychodrama group. Each time the group produced a protagonist through the director's warm-up. Each group session was video-recorded. At the end, the researcher turned the group dialogue into a verbatim script to form the text of the study. The study adopted interpretive phenomenology as research orientation, using the concept of “situatedness” of Li (2004; 2007), and using conversation analysis steps to analyze the data. The findings suggested that the protagonist's predicaments experience transformation in psychodrama can be divided into six stages. The researcher also discovered five special experiences in the transformation process based on the analysis of the five protagonists. At the end, the researcher conducted a comprehensive discussion with other literature related to psychodrama drama, and put forward practical and future research ideas. Through this study, we can understand how the protagonist's predicaments experience transformation in psychodrama. The findings are expected to be used to more effectively help protagonists in the future in the practice of psychodrama drama. |
