日治時期台灣日式住宅中的文化互化

Transculturation of Japanese-style Residences in Colonial Taiwan

許多臺灣日治時期保存至今的日式住宅常被視為日本文化在臺灣的再現，但是複雜的文化和風土考量所造成的影響，也使得這些住宅蘊含著多樣的背景與意涵。本文引用臺灣建築會誌中的住宅案例、以及當時居民代表對於住宅的看法，同時觀察現存當時曾發表個人看法的建築師的作品作為佐證，詳細探討幾個日本士紳在臺灣的住宅，另一方面本研究也嘗試沿用文化互化的觀念，重新檢視這些作品，藉以說明這些作品中西方、日本、與在地風土的意涵。
本文意圖釐清這些臺灣日治時期留下來的所謂日式住宅，事實上保存的是西方、日本、與在地風土考量的轉譯，衍生複雜的文化互化的表現。然而，與其調整這些住宅的刻板印象，本研究期能提供看待建築中的文化再現時、一些不同的觀點。

The Japanese-style residences have been considered to represent the Japanese culture in Taiwan. Still, the complex influences of the cultural and vernacular concerns did make residences contain diverse backgrounds and considerations. This paper has detailed several Japanese gentries and residential projects to reveal the implication of Western, Japanese, and local vernacular concerns in the residences. With theoretical concepts of transculturation, this paper attempts to clarify the so-called Japanese-style residences and preserve the translation of Western, Japanese, and vernacular backgrounds, resulting in complex transculturation expressions. Instead of adjusting the label of these residences, this research expects to provide some alternatives while understanding cultural representation in architecture.
