In organ transplant care, mental health has a significant impact on patients’long-term outcomes. This literature review focuses on the integration of medical care across physical, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions within a holistic care model. It explores the mechanisms through which mental health influences transplant outcomes and highlights the heterogeneity across different types of organ transplants. Studies suggest that mental health can profoundly affect graft survival and quality of life through pathways such as treatment adherence, immune regulation, and social support. Particularly in Asian contexts, cultural factors exert a strong influence on patients’psychological status and care needs, necessitating culturally responsive adaptations within holistic care models. This paper advocates for the integration of mental health assessments and interventions into the transplant care continuum to implement person-centered, integrated care, ultimately enhancing long-term outcomes and overall well-being for transplant recipients. |
