The main purpose of this thesis is to record and track the growth of the author’s artistic journey spanning more than thirty years, which focussed on painting and sculpture. The“wind series”was the main focus of the sculpture period, which included stone, wood, copper and stainless steel sculptures. Coexisting in the same space of emptiness and form, are the divine inspiration energies of the invisible and the tangible. This is the driving force behind the creations of these abstract forms. Divine inspiration allows for the continuous growth of artistic thought and creation. The record of the movement of wind is a condensed snapshot of a moving image, or likely great inspiration of imagination and deconstruction too. The“wind series”uses the power of wind and the impact of the boundless energy of wind on the microcosm. With a limitless space for imagination, and the concave and convex shapes produced with the rhythm of carving a sculpture, as well as the cadence of yin and yang, inspiration can be transformed into a finished sculpture. Additionally, the thought processes and the emotions behind the work are displayed in the shape and form of the sculpture. The author can examine how one’s emotions conversed with the materials at that time. Observing the feedback one has received towards their work can form the basis of the next creative spark. |
