Since modernism, the debates on the boundary of sculpture has become more and more exaggerated, so that when we discuss the concept of sculpture, it is always fettered by the special conditions of some artworks. So, an ontological analysis of this special situation has become a necessary way to understand contemporary sculpture. Through examining the transformation of sculptural media, this research borrows the concept of“Stato di Eccezione”from Giorgio Agamben’s political philosophy to investigate the transition of artwork from its material media to the“art of multitude”. This process illustrates that the contemporary sculpture“Events”situated in“Stato di Eccezione”has expanded the boundary of sculpture. |
