This article explores the value of big data and artificial intelligence (AI) analysis of cataract databases. With the arrival of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the medical field has been profoundly influenced by big data and AI technologies, particularly in ophthalmology. The four key characteristics of big data—variety, velocity, veracity, and value—enable medical institutions to leverage vast datasets for disease prediction, diagnosis, and postoperative management, thereby enhancing diagnostic accuracy. This article presents multiple international studies demonstrating how big data analytics optimize surgical planning, predict surgical outcomes, and facilitate postoperative monitoring in cataract research. Databases from the United States, France, and other countries provide extensive data support for assessing medical quality and predicting risks. In the future, as AI technology advances, it is expected to improve the accuracy of cataract surgery, enable personalized treatment, and drive the development of precision medicine. However, challenges remain in the application of big data, including concerns over data privacy and the lack of advanced analytical tools. Addressing these issues will be crucial moving forward. |
