The release of the 2024 ''Global Top 2% Scientists'' list has drawn significant attention among medical scholars, especially regarding the ranking of Taiwanese researchers. Dr. Liang-Kung Chen, Director of Taipei City Gan-Dau Hospital, has maintained the top domestic position for the fifth consecutive year. This study investigates whether Dr. Chen's ranking advancement remains ahead within the Taiwanese medical community and visually analyzes his publications. Data were collected from the 2022 and 2024 editions of the list. Gene expression analysis with citation growth indicators was used to identify significant advancements among Taiwanese scholars. The ranking advancement rate was calculated, with positive values indicating progress. Among 53 medical fields, 36,873 scholars were listed in both years, including 184 Taiwanese scholars, of whom 99 were affiliated with hospital departments. After excluding foreign scholars, only two physicians showed significant ranking advancement, with Dr. Chen still leading. It is predicted that he will continue to hold the top rank in 2025 (advancement rate = 3.33). Three visual charts a summary of publications, a trend hotspot map, and a publication dashboard—were used to present Dr. Chen's research highlights, supplementing traditional listing formats. Dr. Chen remains the leading Taiwanese scholar, and it is recommended that future releases of the ''Global Top 2% Scientists'' using Scopus scholar profiles include ranking advancement rates as a reference for predicting ranking progress. |
