In April 2023, a COVID-19 cluster event occurred in the internal medicine ward of a medical center in the northern region. The effective control of the outbreak involved implementing infection control measures such as epidemiological investigation, expanding screening, and arranging for the isolation of confirmed cases. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital had established relevant infection control policies, including“the Health Monitoring Notification Mechanism,”“Infection Control Abnormal Event Handling Regulations,”and“Prepared Measures Division in Response to Activation of the Epidemic Contingency Plan.”The hospital dynamically adjusted and responded based on the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) , Taiwan in their announcement titled“Guidelines for Hospitals Responding to Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Within the Hospital.”Ultimately, 15 confirmed cases were identified, with the analysis revealing that asymptomatic individuals accounted for 66.7% of the positive cases. In the context of the cluster event, timely screening and monitoring were crucial for identifying asymptomatic confirmed cases. Implementing proactive isolation measures served as an important strategy to curb the spread and prevent further dissemination. |
