Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), also known as pulmonary obstruction, was the third leading cause of death worldwide according to the World Health Organization's 2019 report. It is commonly manifested by symptoms such as chronic cough, sputum production, and difficulty breathing, necessitating airway clearance techniques to improve mucus removal and gas exchange efficiency. Purpose: Exploring through literature whether the use of high-frequency chest wall oscillation therapy can improve mucus clearance ability in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Methods: PICO was used to formulate keywords, and the Chinese and English electronic databases were searched, and CASP checklist was used to evaluate and summarize the literature. Results and Conclusion: After screening the literature, a total of 2 articles were included: 1 systematic review and meta-analysis, and 1 randomized controlled trial. The results showed that in COPD patients, the use of HFCWO could promote mucus clearance and lead to improvements in daily life functions and lung function. Therefore, this study can be applied in clinical practice to enhance patient care. |
