The advertising specialty sales channel on cable television systems, commonly known as the‘shopping channel,’continues to broadcast at present (2024), and viewers may still be exposed to health risks due to misunderstanding of illegal content. This study selected a single day in 2023 to investigate the patterns of advertising broadcast throughout the day on shopping channels. The results showed that, on October 19, 2023, a total of 202 advertisements were presented on shopping channels airing on cable TV channels 34-47. Among those, 79 advertisements were suspected of violating health regulations, accounting for approximately 39.11% of the total. Further analysis of these 79 suspected violations revealed that food products accounted for the highest proportion at 54.43% (43 cases), followed by cosmetics at 35.44% (28 cases). Given that cable TV spectrum is a limited public asset and health-related regulations also constrain broadcasters, the results of this study can provide reference for authorities to improve management measures and safeguard the rights and interests of viewers. |
