An Intelligent System with ChatGPT for Handwritten English Correction of Taiwan Elementary School Children

本文旨在開發基於ChatGPT的智慧型系統，並應用於教育領域，特別是針對臺灣小學生的手寫英文批改。ChatGPT的提示平台旨在為老師在作業批改方面提供支援。與其他國家的孩子不同，臺灣小學生的書寫中可能會穿插繁體漢字和音標。為了解決這個問題，我們開發了一種新的光學字元辨識系統，用於識別臺灣小學生的繁體漢字和音標。然後，我們開發了ChatGPT提示平台，為臺灣小學生的手寫英文批改提供建議。除了提高作業批改的效率外，我們的系統還為教師建立了一個社交平台來分享他們設計的提示。透過這個平台，可以聚集豐富的ChatGPT於教育領域的提示資源，鼓勵教師積極參與，並將其運用到教學實踐中。

This paper aims to develop an intelligent system with ChatGPT for the educational field, especially, in handwritten English correction of Taiwan elementary school children. A prompt platform of ChatGPT is designed to provide support for teachers in the aspects of homework correction. Different from the children in other countries, Taiwan elementary school children may intersperse their writings with characters and phonetic symbols of Mandarin Chinese. To resolve this problem, we develop a new optical character recognition system to recognize characters and phonetic symbols of Mandarin Chinese by Taiwan elementary school children. Then, we develop a prompt platform of ChatGPT to provide suggestions for handwritten English correction of Taiwan elementary school children. In addition to enhance the efficiency of homework correction, our system establishes a social platform for teachers to share their designed prompts. Through this platform, rich prompt resources can be gathered to encourage teachers to actively embrace our prompt platform and apply it in teaching practices.
