This study employs photovoice as a research method, combining text and images to explore social work students' internship experiences in India and track their adaptation process in a cross-cultural environment. The research findings reveal that students underwent a journey from amazement, shock, and adaptation to unforgettable experiences during their cross-cultural learning process. Their cross-cultural adaptation process generally aligns with Lysgaard's U-curve model, although culture shock was found to be an ongoing process. The team internship format effectively reduced feelings of loneliness and facilitated cross-cultural adaptation. Photovoice promoted dialogue and reflection, conveying images to readers through the students' perspective, allowing readers to share in the charm and challenges of India, and inspiring understanding and respect for cross-cultural experiences. Based on the research results, the authors recommend that students maintain an open mindset and embrace cross-cultural challenges. School internship supervisors should provide support for students in language, professional, and cultural aspects. Additionally, it is suggested to incorporate the photovoice method in curricula to facilitate knowledge exchange among students. |
