The People’s Republic of China (PRC) influence in South Asia has been a topic of increasing concern in recent years. As China has become the world’s second-largest economy and a major global power, its footprint in the region has grown significantly, with concurrent implications for the region’s geopolitics, security, and economies. A key aspect of China’s influence in South Asia is its strategic investments in infrastructure projects. The Chinese Communist Party Central Committee’s invigorated and enlarged United Front Work Department (UFWD) and Propaganda apparatus gained access to the politics, academia, and economy of South Asia including their respective military establishments. |
