Taiwan began to promote“Green MICE”actively in recent years and had done many efforts, including released“Green MICE Guidelines”(now be revised to“Sustainable MICE Guidelines”) to direct behaviors of firms, and issued“Taiwan MICE Sustainability White Paper”. To say about sustainable development of MICE industry, one of the most representative promoting organization is UFI (The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry), which began to host the“Sustainable Development Award”since 2012, and had set a different theme for each year. On 2020, the theme of the Award is“Waste Management”, which is important to MICE, because it always produced a lot of waste. And UFI had issued a consolidated report specific to this theme. The goal of this study is to realize the situation of waste management of MICE industry in Taiwan through contrasting the global new trends and best practices of firms identified by the report of UFI mentioned above, with the suggested practices in the“Sustainable MICE Guidelines”. Firstly, UFI’s consolidated report and the Guidelines of Taiwan were introduced; Secondly, the practices relating to waste management in the Guidelines of Taiwan were screened; and lastly, several topics were discussed. |
