Buddhist Economics 101: Principles of Buddhist Economics

本研究以佛法的理論架構觀照經濟學所揭示的原理，探討二者的基本原理可以如何地會通融合。首先，探討佛教經濟學的目的和範圍，並以佛法透視經濟原理世俗目的的可轉化性。其次，針對研究方法，探索佛法的理論分析和現代經濟分析模式的特性，先論述前者兼備「實然」和「應然」的融合一體性，著重人「心」的認識和淨化，後者主張「客觀事實」與「主觀價值」的切割性，關切人類物質環境進步和福祉提昇。最後，會通二者，並試論佛教經濟學的基本原理。

Abstract: The aim of the study is to apply fundamental Buddhist principles and ethical values to investigating principles in economics. The core issue is to examine how to reconcile these two systems of thought. First, we will set out the aim and the scope of “Buddhist economics”. We will then examine the characteristics of the analytical frameworks of Buddhism and economics respectively: The former is characterized by an equal emphasis on “is” and “ought/how to” and focuses on purification of mind, whereas the latter postulates the dichotomy of “fact” and “value” and is mainly concerned with human beings' material welfare. Finally we propose some principles of Buddhist economics.
