The“Taiwan Reading Festival,”a nationwide reading event which has received a remarkably positive response from the public, was awarded the“Innovative International Library Projects Award”from the American Library Association in 2020, thereby earning international recognition for Taiwan’s enthusiasm for reading as well as innovation in its promotion. The 2022 rendition, for the first time, featured two days of exciting activities, and more than 150 participants brought the festival to successful conclusion, including public libraries; cultural, social, and educational institutions; government agencies; school clubs; publishers; bookstores; non-governmental organizations; and various other organizations tied to the offices or missions stationed in Taiwan of Belgium, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, the Czech Republic, Belize, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Christopher and Nevis, the European Union, Germany, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Poland, and Switzerland. In total, more than 250 reading activities combined the spirit of the 2022 festival direction and themes, the five STEAM education fields, bilingual education, local languages, and food and agriculture education. |
