This case report describes a 63-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with COVID-19 infection and subsequently cleared of the virus following treatment. However, even after recovery, the patient continued to experience symptoms such as throat dryness, cough triggered by smoke, and slowed thinking. Additionally, he reported an increase in thin, white nasal discharge and frequent nasal itching and congestion. Furthermore, the patient experienced fatigue, impaired memory, and a decline in sleep quality due to postnasal drip. Seeking relief, he sought Traditional Chinese Medicine outpatient treatment and was prescribed a specific herbal formula. After treatment, the patient's nasal itching improved, chest tightness and abdominal distension were relieved, nasal discharge decreased, and dry cough improved without phlegm. This case report serves as a reminder to healthcare professionals to be vigilant about respiratory and neurological symptoms that may arise in the post-recovery phase of COVID-19 infection. Furthermore, it highlights the potential clinical utility of traditional Chinese herbal formulas in ameliorating these symptoms. Nevertheless, given the limited scope of this case report, further clinical research is necessary to validate the efficacy and safety of such treatments. |
