Every city has a different development in Taiwan, and it is possible to fully explore the naming and development characteristics of a city at different stages by researching case studies. There are four characteristics in the development of street naming in Annan District, Tainan City: 1. Annan District is located on the periphery of Tainan City, and there are no street names related to national politics. 2. The street naming regulations of Tainan City have a decisive impact on street naming in different stages of Annan District. 3. The naming of streets in Annan District shows that the local customs decided the main names at first (before 1986), then it changed to praising kindness (1986-2000), and lastly it returned to the local customs (after 2000). 4. The naming right was allocated to the public sector in the past (before 2000). Later on, after the year 2000, part of the naming right was delegated to the grassroots society. Because of this, street names focused more obviously on displaying local customs again. |
