The use of various media resources in language teaching and learning is widely recognized. This action research was conducted to investigate the effects on students’oral speaking, as well as their attitude toward performing a video synchronization task. The students were non-English majors with different English proficiency levels from different departments at a private university in northern Taiwan. In addition to collecting students’pre- and post-surveys, a film dubbing task with individual and group reflections was also conducted to understand students’perceptions of task delivery. The results showed that the movies played a vivid and natural role for students in immersing themselves in the target language and raising their awareness of English. Students enjoyed the task and showed positive attitudes toward the use of movies as a means of improving their oral language skills. The results also provide evidence for improving the curriculum to enhance the quality of instruction and student learning outcomes. |
