In response to the massive demands for long-term care in the future and to relieve the heavy burden of domestic care, the Government has been proactively promoting the prevention and delay of disability care. The issue of interventions for middle-aged and senior citizens to achieve self-support by Intelligent Power Rehabilitation (IPR) machines to slow down the aging process has emerged as a critical issue. This study targeted the participants of the Silver Fitness Club of the Nantou YMCA who use the intelligent power rehabilitation machine, and there were 50 participants in total. The study was conducted firstly by taking the functional physical fitness pre-test followed by a 12-week course, and after the course, a functional physical fitness post-test and a questionnaire survey which contained three factors namely, participation motivation, benefits, and satisfaction level of the use of the Intelligent Power Rehabilitation Machine were conducted. Then, the correlation among the three factors and the differences among demographic variables were analyzed, and a total of 50 samples were sent out, and 50 valid samples were recovered. The results of the study showed that (1) there were significant differences in the demographic variables of different health status, motivation to participate, benefits of participation, and satisfaction with participation. (2) There were significant improvements in all seven measures of functional fitness (3) The overall mean scores of motivations, benefits, and satisfaction were all in the medium-high range. This study shows that regular participation in the Silver Fitness Club's Intelligent Power Rehabilitation Machine exercise training has had a positive impact on the physical functioning of the middle-aged and elderly. This study can offer references for the design of prevention and delaying disabilities activities for daycare centers, long-term care centers, and long-term care organizations. We suggest that the Government should collaborate with the private sector to promote silver fitness clubs. These clubs should provide exercise guidance services through exercise instructors and encourage the elderly to engage in physical activities in their neighborhoods according to their individual needs, so as to prevent and delay disability and increase the proximity of the elderly to participate in activities. |
