3D breast tomosynthesis decreases the degree of compression pain and the degree of compression pain makes most subjects reluctant to seek treatment. This study designs a questionnaire to compare the pain that is caused by digital mammography equipment and a 3D breast tomosynthesis. Data collection uses a questionnaire to anonymously collect the pain scores for a 3D breast tomosynthesis scanner. Pain scores are compared with the reported results and the breast density. The results of this study show that the pain index for digital mammography is 6.2±2.5 points and the pain index for a 3D breast tomosynthesis scanner is 2.7±1.4 points. The results are statistically significant (t = 9.650, P < 0.001). A comparison of the results shows that 3D breast tomosynthesis involves less pain for patients with denser breasts. A new compression plate for a 3D breast tomosynthesis scanner and more precise calculation using imaging software reduces the degree of breast compression, compared with the force for digital mammography equipment, and reduces compression for patients with dense breasts to encourage the use of mammography. |
