With the aging population, the incidence of cancer is rising, and the advancement of treatment and biomedical technology has brought new opportunities for precision medicine for cancer. With the rapid evolution of precision medicine in oncology, it is becoming increasingly important to provide patients with precise care. Nurses play a first-line care role in the treatment of patients with cancer. In the face of cancer precision medicine, nurses should have relevant core competencies and provide patient- and family-centric care. Lung cancer has a high incidence and mortality rate. Globally, as many as 1.7 million people die from lung cancer every year. Due to lung cancer’s biological characteristics, precision medicine has made great progress, although most patients with lung cancer are diagnosed at an advanced stage. Therefore, early detection and early treatment is the goal of lung cancer precision medicine. Take lung cancer for example, nurses play a critical role to integration of precision medicine core competencies into clinical care. However, at present, the core competence of nursing staff for precision medical care remains insufficient, and there is a lack of complete precision medical education and training. In the future, through the cooperation of production, government, academic, and medical teams, combined with advanced practice nurses and clinical nurses, cancer patients will attain better quality of life through treatment with precision medicine. |
