Terrorism has a deep impact on international society. Among all forms of terrorism, state terrorism is the most terrifying one, essentially influencing the obedience and loyalty of the people. In this paper, we will mainly examine neo-republicanism, which values the status and functions of the state, to see whether the neo-republicans can meet the challenge of state terrorism. My claim is that neo-republicanism, primarily led by Philip Pettit, ignores the relevant issues of state terrorism, so it cannot clearly explain and resolve the problems of state terrorism effectively. This results in failure by neo-republicans when pursuing the goal of non-domination on this issue. Therefore, we can predict that the future of the human race will still unavoidably bear the threat of terrorism. |
