Acupuncture and moxibustion are both traditional medical techniques based on the meridian and acupoint theory, with a history of over 2,000 years in Chinese medical literature. Moxibustion is said to have originated before acupuncture. In 1979, the World Health Organization recognized acupuncture as a treatment for 43 different diseases, and in 1996, 64 indications of acupuncture and moxibustion were proposed in Milan, Italy. This recognition has led to increased research and development of acupuncture and moxibustion. This article examines the publication of acupuncture and moxibustion research in Taiwan, using two approaches: ''Journal Publications of Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Taiwan'' and ''Analysis of Journal Publications of Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Taiwan through Web of Science.'' Eight journals in Taiwan have published the majority of articles related to acupuncture and moxibustion. The second approach analyzes 27,987 global acupuncture articles through the library website WoS, providing insight into the research and performance of Taiwan's acupuncture and moxibustion both domestically and abroad. |
