It is well known children are not small adults and they require a special medical care system. Brain tumors are the most common solid type of malignant disease in children. Conventional treatment strategies include radical surgery, radiotherapy and systemic chemotherapy. However, some patients still undergo failure of treatment and a relapse in the malignant disease. Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a modern targeted therapy. Due to high treatment efficiency and less normal tissue toxicities, BNCT has become more and more popular for the treatment of recurrent pediatric brain tumors. Although BNCT can improve the treatment outcomes for pediatric patients, high-quality nursing care is indispensable before, during and after BNCT procedures. This article attempts to show the specialties of nursing skills for BNCT and help pediatric patients better tolerate the treatment procedures. |
