THE DESIGNING AND MANUFACTURING FOR A CYCLOID MECHANISM

The study is to fulfill CAD and CAM integration by designing and manufacturing a cycloid mechanism. The cycloid mechanism possesses the features of high speed-reduction ratio, compact structure, small volume, and low cost. The mechanism applies a cycloid disk (CD) driven by the eccentric shaft to generate planetary motion including revolution and rotation. The rotational motion is transmitted by the transmitted pins connecting the output disk to output the power. The designed principles of the CD are reported to create the mechanism and the related components. The geometric models of the mechanism are constructed by SolidWorks for the following operations. The motion properties of the mechanism are analyzed to identify the correctness of the design. The CAD models are then imported into CAM software for planning tool paths and converting them into NC codes. The physical mechanism is created by CNC machines including assembly testing and function identification. The purpose of the study is to develop a new type of reducer by integrating the CAD/CAM techniques.
