We start with a review of how American territories have been expanded including the classification of territories, the acquisitions of continental territories, and the composition of overseas territories. We then look into how the United States has move from isolationism to expansionism. We further examine how the United States has expanded in the Pacific, intervened in Latin America, and annexed Hawaii. Finally, we will scrutinize the Insular Cases.
