This study aims to produce a set of board games which manifests the integration of various knowledge of communities, hoping players can learn local cultures during the whole process of games. The whole process of research includes gathering local literary and historical documents, developing game rules, designing integration of both kinds of materials, and finally administering questionnaires to compare to what extent players learn local knowledge before and after playing board games. The objects of research are categorized into three groups: elementary students in grades 4-6, teachers of After-school Care in Gueilai Elementary School, and the civilians in the communities. The conclusion shows that, the elementary students got a higher average score than the other two. Second, the residence of Gueilai communities had a lowest average score, displaying that residents of communities do not fully understand local culture. Third, most people who were surveyed found the board games very interesting and fun. Therefore, it is recommended to develop community cultural and creative products. |
