The purpose of this study is to explore preschool teacher education between Taiwan and Japan in terms of institutions, internships, and professional courses through literature and policies that present the similarities and differences between the two systems. Three main findings are as follows: The idea of teacher education from Taiwan and Japan were from different starting points, both follow relevant policies and echo the early childhood education curriculum. 2. Teacher education institutions in Taiwan and Japan are both based on four-year bachelor's degrees training. 3. The aim of teacher education courses both aim at cultivating high-quality teachers. Two suggestions were mentioned at the end of this study: 1. It might be possible to differentiate the professional level of preschool teachers and educators with different license levels. 2. It is recommended that both employer preschools and universities share the responsibility of internship guidance. |
