Background: With the rapid development of global Internet resources, various mobile health applications (mHealth apps) have been introduced. mHealth appscan be installed on smartphones and tablets, providing users with multiple options and value-added services.
Aim: Apply technology acceptance model to explore the willingness to use mobile health applications, and compare whether there are any differences between previous users.
Methods:A cross-sectional study design was adopted, and questionnaires were used to collect research data from outpatients in a regional hospital in southern Taiwan from February to April 2021. In total, 1014 valid questionnaires were collected.
Results: There were 417 (41.12%) and 597 (58.88%)respondents who had and had not previously used mHealth apps, respectively. There were significant differences in the perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and attitudes between the two groups (p<0.001).The mean values of usage behavior intentions of the two groups were3.98 points, with no significant differences (p=0.921).Factors affecting behavioral intention, including the attitude of respondents who were experienced in using mHealth apps, showed significantfindings (p<0.001). Moreover, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and attitudes in subjects who had not used mHealth apps showed significantfindings(p<0.05).
Conclusion: Improving user attitudes will help people to use and positively support mHealth apps, and they can also perform health management and quickly understand and use the medical information provided by the hospital. |
