In medical research, regardless of whether it is a journal article, oral or poster presentation, it is often necessary to visualize data or statistical results to highlight the focus and significance of research findings. Although journals generally have strict requirements for text formatting outlined in their submission guidelines, fewer specific instructions for graphical presentation are provided. Therefore, in this paper, we focus on the common statistical graphs in medical research papers, including bar graphs, histograms, line graphs, scatterplots, and tree map, and briefly explain their functions and basic design with graphing principles. We hope to provide readers a broader understanding of statistical graphs and able to avoid rejection of submissions due to poor statistical graphs. |
