"Strawberry anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides results in severe damages in the production areas in central Taiwan. It was observed that a recent outbreak could be linked to the application of herbicides at the end of the season. Preliminary studies have revealed that herbicides could promote fungal proliferation and sporulation in soils. This article discusses strawberry anthracnose, including symptoms, the causal pathogens, diagnosis, and management strategies. It is strongly recommended that herbicides shall not be used to clean up the field and that plant debris shall be removed to reduce inoculum." |
