A total of 21 Taiwanese nurses from 7 hospitals were recruited as participants in this study. This study employed semi-structured interviews, and a self-assessment performance survey questionnaire. A survey questionnaire was administered to Taiwanese nurses to collect quantitative data. A total of 181 nurses from the 7 aforementioned hospitals were recruited to answer the questionnaire. The three results are as follows: (1) grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation difficulties; (2) tasks that nurses perceived to be difficult, and (3) English communication perceptions in the workplace. According to the results, three pedagogical implications are suggested for ESP instruction and curriculum design in nursing field in Taiwan.
